Crochet Bucket Hat Pattern

I have been seeing a ton of adorable bucket hats on Pinterest lately and I thought it would be fun to create my own bucket hat crochet pattern. This is a super simple crochet pattern. You only need to know how to create a magic ring, slip stitch, and single crochet.  So, continue reading to find out how I created a crochet bucket hat.

  • Yarn: Lily Sugar ‘N Cream in Tea Rose and Soft Ecru
  • 5mm crochet hook



  1. create a magic ring and single crochet 5 stitches into it. Pull tight, slip stitch last stitch to the first stitch
  2. Chain 1, 2 single crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch first and last stitch
  3. Chain 1, 2 single crochet in every other stitch, slip stitch first and last stitch
  4. Chain 1, 1 single crochet in 2 stitches, 2 single crochet in next stitch, continue around. Slip stitch first and last stitch.
  5. Chain 1, 1 single crochet in 3 stitches, 2 single crochet in 4th stitch, continue around. Slip stitch first and last stitch.
  6. Chain 1, 1 single crochet in 4 stitches, 2 single crochet in 5th stitch, continue around. Slip stitch first and last.
  7. Chain 1, 1 single crochet in 5 stitches, 2 single crochet in 6th stitch, continue around. Slip stitch first and last.
  8. Chain 1, 1 single crochet in 6 stitches, 2 single crochet in 7th stitch, continue around. Slip stitch first and last.
  9. Chain 1, 1 single crochet in 7 stitches, 2 single crochet in 8th stitch, continue around. Slip stitch first and last.
  10. Chain 1, 1 single crochet in 8 stitches, 2 single crochet in 9th stitch, continue around. Slip stitch first and last.
  11. Chain 1, 1 single crochet in 9 stitches, 2 single crochet in 10th stitch, continue around. Slip stitch first and last.
  12. Chain 1, single crochet 1 in each stitch around, slip stitch to connect first and last
  13. Repeat row 12 x10 rows
  14. Chain 1, single crochet 1 in back stitch only around, slip stitch to connect first and last
  15. Chain 1, single crochet around, slip stitch to connect first and last stitch
  16. Chain 1, 1 single crochet in 5 stitches, 2 single crochet in 6th stitch, slip stitch to connect first and last
  17. Chain 1, 1 single crochet in 7 stitches, 2 single crochet in 8th stitch, slip stitch to connect first and last
  18. Chain 1. 1 single crochet in 9 stitches, 2 single crochet in 10th stitch, slip stitch to connect first and last
  19. Repeat row 17 x2 rows
  20. Switch to color 2, single crochet around, slip stitch final stitch into first stitch and cut yarn
  21. Weave in ends
