December Knit Crate Unboxing
I finally received my Knit Crate for the month of December. I signed up pretty late in the month, so I didn’t receive this until a couple days ago. But, I have ordered from Knit Crate before and I think it is a super fun way to try out new yarn and so fun to unbox mystery yarn.
Details: Knit Crate is a monthly yarn subscription box that costs $24.99 per month (although you can often get it for better deals) and includes 2 skeins of yarn and some extra knitting items. They also have a Sock Crate version for $19.95 per month, which includes 1 skein of sock yarn per month. You can choose what kind of yarn colors you like from Energize me (reds, pinks, yellows, oranges), all natural (cream, gray, brown, navy), chill out (blues and greens), or anything goes (meaning they will choose which color for you). They also have some more deluxe subscriptions including Mrs. Crosby Travels ($69.99/Quarter) and Malabringo Quarterly ($45/Quarter).
Each month, they have a different partner helping them choose the yarn and a featured project that gives back. This month, they partnered with Kristy Glass and their featured project was a tree planting project in the Mantiqueira Mountains (it sounds like it is always a different tree planting project, but I am not sure). The theme for this month was Squad Goals and togetherness (virtually).
Extras: They included a little purple string backpack that says, “Yarn Squad,” which will be so good for taking the projects I am woking on with me or just storing my project in so the cats don’t destroy it.
Yarn: The Yarn in my box was the Audine Wools Twinkle DK in Squad Goals. This yarn is 80% Merino, 10% Cashmere and 10% Stellina. It is a beautiful, sparkly, coral colored yarn. It is super soft, but it is a bit difficult to think about what I will do with sparkly yarn. I will eventually post the pattern that I end up making with a mini review of the yarn. Also, if you are not interested in the subscription boxes, you can purchase just the yarns on the Knit Crate website.
Length: 250 yards per 100 gram skein
Suggested Needle/Hook Size: US 10 (6 mm) circular needle, 40″” (102 cm) or US H/8 (5.00 mm)”
Knit Crate does not include patterns in their subscription box. This is something I personally like because I like to be creative and think of what I want to knit/crochet. However, if you prefer patterns, they offer some free patterns on their website as well as some pointers and tips.
Overall, I thought this was a really amazing box and it will be so fun to decide what to make with this yarn! I haven’t purchased sparkly yarn since I first started crocheting (and I still haven’t made anything with it since it was my first “nice” yarn).
Thank you so much for reading and if you are interested, you can try Knit Crate for 50% off through my referral link. If you are already a member, I would love to know what you decided to make or if you have any suggestions.
